2027 Honda CR-V: What’s New, What’s Changing, and What Stays the Same
The 2027 Honda CR-V is a carryover, and a good one. Honda made the big changes for 2026 (a larger 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on every trim, a standard wireless phone charger, fresh styling, and a new TrailSport Hybrid), and the 2027 keeps all of it. What changes is the price: starting MSRPs rise by $400 to $700, and the destination charge goes up to $1,550. If you are coming from a 2025 or older CR-V, plenty is different. If you are comparing a 2026 with a 2027, the two are close to identical. This guide covers both.

What Is New on the 2027 CR-V
Pricing Moves Up
Honda’s 2027 announcement covers pricing and EPA ratings, and it does not list new features. Compared with the 2026 model, most trims rise by $400 (the base LX rises by $600, and the top Sport Touring Hybrid by $700). The destination charge climbs to $1,550 from $1,395 at the 2026 launch.
Fuel Economy Holds Steady
EPA ratings match the 2026 model across the lineup, so the CR-V’s efficiency numbers carry over untouched.
Colors
Select colors cost extra (Honda lists $455 on its site).
What Changed Since the 2025 and Earlier CR-V
If your CR-V is a 2025 or older, here is what the current generation adds.
A Larger Touchscreen
Every 2027 CR-V comes with a 9-inch color touchscreen. It is the centerpiece of a cabin tech update that Honda introduced with the 2026 model.
Wireless Smartphone Connection, Even on the Base Trim
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available on every trim, including the base LX. Your phone connects when you get in, with no cable.
A Standard Wireless Phone Charger
A wireless charging pad is included on every CR-V, which pairs well with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto.
Refreshed Styling
Honda updated the CR-V’s look for 2026. The 2027 keeps it.
The New TrailSport Hybrid
The TrailSport Hybrid is the CR-V’s mild off-road edition. It rides on all-terrain tires and adds a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, black trim, orange TrailSport badging, easy-clean rubber floor mats, and amber interior lighting. All-wheel drive is standard. It is made for gravel roads, snowy driveways, and campgrounds, and it does not come with skid plates or other serious off-road gear, so think of it as an adventure-ready daily driver.
What Stays the Same
The CR-V’s core recipe carries over. Buyers can still choose between a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder (190 horsepower, paired with a CVT) and a two-motor hybrid system (204 horsepower). Front-wheel drive is standard on most trims, and Real Time AWD is available for $1,500 (it is standard on the TrailSport and Sport Touring). The CR-V still seats five, and cargo space still tops out at 76.5 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. Gas models are rated to tow up to 1,500 pounds, and hybrids up to 1,000. Honda Sensing remains standard, including adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist.
How the CR-V Hybrid Works
The CR-V Hybrid pairs a 2.0L four-cylinder gas engine with two electric motors, and the system produces 204 horsepower. It is a traditional hybrid, so there is no plug and no charging routine; it recharges itself as you drive and brake. You get more power than the gas CR-V, much better mileage in town (the front-wheel-drive hybrid is rated at 43 mpg city), and a quieter ride at low speeds. The tradeoff is a higher price and a lower tow rating.

Gas or Hybrid: Which 2027 CR-V Is Right for You?
The gas CR-V is the value pick. An LX starts at $31,520, the turbo makes 190 horsepower, and it is rated up to 30 mpg combined. The hybrid is the efficiency and power pick: up to 40 mpg combined and 204 horsepower, but it starts about $4,500 higher (the Sport Hybrid at $36,030, against the LX at $31,520). Do the math on how much you drive. If you rack up a lot of city miles, the hybrid’s mileage advantage can make up some of the price gap over time. If you drive less, or tow a small trailer regularly (the hybrid is rated 500 pounds lower), the gas CR-V may fit better.

2027 CR-V vs. 2027 HR-V
The CR-V is Honda’s larger compact SUV, with more room inside and a hybrid option, and the HR-V is the smaller, lower-priced pick with no hybrid. If you need the extra space or want hybrid mileage, the CR-V is the answer. If you want the lower starting price and the easier parking, look at the HR-V. See what’s new on the 2027 HR-V.
Should You Buy a 2026 or 2027 CR-V?
The two model years are close to identical, with the same engines, the same tech, and the same fuel economy. The 2027 costs $400 to $700 more at the starting line, and its destination charge is $155 higher, so a 2026 with a discount can be the better deal (ask us what applies today). Choose the 2027 if you want the newest model year or a specific color. Either way, we will work through the numbers with you, with no pressure. We make it EASY!
